Authority Over Sorcery and Spells

Acts 8:9-10, 13
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which before time in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God… Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

This is a powerful illustration! Before Philip arrived in Samaria, there was a man named Simon who was a sorcerer. He had bewitched the entire city! Imagine, one man casting a spell over a whole city, influencing their behavior, holding them captive! These things are still happening today – spells on cities, on companies, on families.  But then Philip came! A man full of the Holy Spirit, a man who knew the gospel of Jesus Christ, a man who knew how to use the name of Jesus! When he came into that city, preaching the name of Jesus Christ and doing mighty miracles by the power of the Spirit, it was the end of that sorcery! Simon, the sorcerer himself, believed and was baptized—he was born again! The witch was born again! Glory to God!  Listen, if you are a child of God, filled with the Holy Spirit, and you know the name of Jesus, it doesn’t matter if there are witches, wizards, or sorcerers operating in your city, your street, or your workplace! You have the authority! You can declare, “There shall be no witches and wizards flying as long as I’m in this city, in the name of Jesus Christ!” No wizardry, no enchantment, no sorcery can operate where a child of God, full of the Holy Spirit and knowing their authority, is present! One man, Philip, took on a whole city under a spell, and the bewitchment ended! You can do the same!

Pray The Word
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the authority You have given me over all sorcery, witchcraft, and bewitchment through the Holy Spirit and the Name of Jesus.

Speak The Word
I declare that no sorcery, no witchcraft, no enchantment, and no wizardry can operate in my life, my family, my home, or my sphere of influence! I break every spell and assignment of the enemy by the power of the Holy Spirit and in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ!
