Faith Leadership: Life And Aphtharsia

Our Saviour Jesus Christ hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2 Timothy 1:10).

Here is a question worth sitting with: what kind of life are you actually living in?
Most of us have only ever known one kind. The fragile kind. The kind that fades, frays, and finally surrenders to the grave. We were born into a life with an expiry date stamped on it, and somewhere deep down we organised everything around that shadow.

But look again at what Jesus brought to light.

That word “immortality” in the Greek is ἀφθαρσία (aphtharsia) – incorruption. It describes something that cannot decay, cannot spoil, cannot waste away. Not a longer version of the old life. An entirely different kind. A life that ruin has no claim on.  Did you catch the verb the verse uses about death? Abolished. Not delayed. Not eased. Undone at the root. Jesus walked straight into the shadow that hung over every human story, and He came out the other side holding life in His hands.

And here is what truly moves me: He brought it to light. He didn’t bury it in some far-off heaven you can only hope to reach. He unveiled it. Put it on display through the gospel so you could see it, receive it, and live in it now.

So this morning, hear it plainly. The life you carry in Christ is not the perishing thing you were born with. It is incorruptible. It cannot be undone by sickness, by failure, or by the grave itself.
Carry that mentality into you place of work and business everyday. That life is at work in your job, in your business. That very life is at work in everything that pertains to you, everything that you lay your hands up to do –  in the name of Jesus Christ!
Make that a part of your faith declarations over your work.

In Christ, you are not anxiously waiting to escape death you are already partaking of a life death cannot touch. You have been brought into aphtharsia. Incorruption is at work in you today. Don’t just sit by and watch your business die; stand up and declare life to that business, life to that job, life to that career!

Death already lost. Life won. And it has been brought to light for you to walk in victory everyday.
