The Purpose & Power Of Writing: The Finger Of God
Study The Word
Deuteronomy 10:1 -4 NIV
At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark. 2 I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.” 3 So I made the ark out of acacia wood and chiselled out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands. 4 The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me. 5 Then I came back down the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, as the Lord commanded me, and they are there now.
In our opening verse, we get to see an amazing revelation of how The Lord Himself, who is a spirit being, insisted on writing by Himself. God is a spirit, and here we have revealed to us an account of the Supreme Spirit Being insisting on expressing and establishing His spiritual authority and law to govern man in the earth. This further reveals how writing is not a human invention but a gift that God gave to man as a principle of communication, transmission of creativity, expression, and establishment of dominion and rule. Also, this is something profoundly spiritual. Spirits work with writing. Spirits express, establish, and are connected and or connect with each other through writing. Spirits and spiritual things and substances are also transmitted and transferred through writing. For example, right this moment, or if you have been following The Word For Today since we started, and even as you have been reading, we have been communicating and transmitting spiritual things through the medium of writing. And through reading and or just making contact with the spiritual things we communicate through the writings, spirit is transferred to you; you get it. We transmit spiritual virtue and substance through writing, such that whoever will take the time to read will receive something spiritual from the writings.
And when earlier this year while I was praying with my wife and the Spirit of God just said loudly to me, “Write the devotionals teaching the Word daily,” I cringed initially. I was praying about other things and enjoying time with the Lord and really wasn’t interested in having such a responsibility dropped on me out of the blue in that way. I said to my wife, “this is what the God said I must do;” and I wasn’t excited about it AT ALL. I asked her to write it down and she did because that’s what we learned to do, because, yes, I understand the principle of writing as it was delivered to me from the Lord. I told my wife later that I will only start that devotional in 2026, haha! I just wanted to push it far away so that I don’t have to deal with it because I didn’t think I could do it. And then I wrestled with it for a few months, but the Lord just kept pressing me and wouldn’t let it go. Until he reminded me about how He taught me about the purpose and power of writing, and that’s all He needed to do to convince me to do it. And that’s because every great minister cannot fully walk with God unless they understand the purpose and power of writing in the establishment of God’s kingdom, and also if they are unwilling to write, God can only do so much with you. Preaching and talking to people about the divine things of God is good and amazing, but God cannot work with you to certain levels unless you develop the discipline to write. And that’s because spirits work with writing; God works with writing – Writing is spiritual. Hey, I pray to God you get this!
Writing transfers unseen spiritual things and ideas into the tangible, physical world and controls not just spiritual things but physical things too. The Word, the logos, which is the written word, was in the spiritual world, in God’s mind, as a divine blueprint. And for it to be transferred from that invisible spirit world of God’s Throne into this three-dimensional, physical world that we inhabit, it is fundamentally transferred through writing. This is a spiritual truth, a technical process, a divine mechanism that effectively brings the unseen into the seen, the intangible into the tangible.
מכתּב miktâb write – handwriting a thing written, characters, document, letter, copy, edict, writing
Look at this again – “The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.” It says “He wrote again.” Why was God insisting that the commandments be written AGAIN, after the first tablets had been destroyed by Moses? Why? It tells you the importance, the significance of writing. This is a spirit being insisting on writing. Think about it.
If you know and understand God, you’d know that He doesn’t do things for nothing, and when you see in scripture God insisting on something in this manner, you need to pay attention to that thing because it is extremely important. That’s the priority that God put on writing because He understood that IF IT IS NOT ESTABLISHED IN WRITING IN THE EARTH HIS KINGDOM WILL NOT WORK! Moses talking about it was not going to be enough because writing is a principle that spirits use to communicate, transfer, and establish spiritual laws, principles, and spiritual substance and things. Preaching it is great, but it must be written down if it’s going to work.
And that’s why Moses said in Deuteronomy 9:10, “And the Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the Lord spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.“
You will have someone say, “Shingi, my life problems are a lot deeper than that, I don’t think designing my life in writing in this way is going to work! I need the senior senior prophet of all the apostles to pray for me.“
Oh so, you are wiser than your Maker. Haha. Why don’t you cultivate the attitude of the Lord Jesus who said, “the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” (John 5:19) Imitate the Father, and see the kind of life you will begin to live. You will be amazed; the Word of God works. If you see written in the Word, do it; depend on it. But there are things that are in the Word that are more powerful than the things that are revealed to us that God Almighty does Himself. Those things never fail, and writing is one of them.
Think about it from a human perspective, mirroring God’s divine process: the magnificent thing that is conceived in your mind, nobody knows it. Nobody has seen it, and crucially, nobody can recreate it or experience it until you transfer it from your mind onto a paper, in writing. It’s like an architect who conceives a magnificent, towering building in their mind, visualizing every intricate detail. That building will never stand physically; it will never be built, until they meticulously draw up in writing the detailed plans and blueprints. The entire design, every column, every measurement, every material, must be clearly and precisely written down and defined on paper. Without that comprehensive plan in writing, the building will simply not be there. It remains an ethereal idea.
This principle is true for everything you interact with in this physical world. Nothing came into existence out of just nothing; it was designed in writing first. From the very house you’re living in, to the car you drive daily, to the clothes and shoes you wear, every physical item you use, every invention, every product was first a meticulously written design, a blueprint, a formula. Without that initial writing, it would simply not be there in its physical form. This is the undeniable law that governs the establishment and manifestation of spiritual things into the physical world.
Now, as a child of God, as you have seen how God Almighty uses this principle, you need to begin to apply this powerful spiritual principle directly to your own personal life. If the life you want to live, the future you envision for yourself, does not come through the same process – if you don’t take the time and discipline to write it down – you are, quite simply, not going to live it. You can have the most incredible desires, the most inspiring visions, and the most compelling dreams in your heart, but if there’s no clear plan, no detailed design of your life in writing, it will remain a mere desire, a fleeting thought. The only assured way to ensure you actually live and experience your desired life is to actively design and put your mind down in writing.
This is precisely how successful people live. They know, understand, and apply this principle because they’ve seen its efficacy. They know they have to do it to get the desired result. Don’t be like the majority who just live day to day, reacting to circumstances, without a clear, written plan or direction. You take the initiative, you push yourself to write, and you will undeniably see the results, because writing is the divinely established vehicle for transferring the spiritual into the physical realm. It guarantees that what is in your heart and mind moves into your reality.
Pray The Word
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the profound principle of writing as a powerful means to transfer spiritual realities and divine ideas into the physical realm. I pray for the grace, wisdom, and discipline to consistently write down my visions, my goals, and my desires, knowing that this is how You designed creation to manifest. Strengthen me to diligently apply this principle daily.
Speak The Word
I declare that my meticulously written plans are powerfully bringing spiritual realities into physical manifestation! I am a co-creator with God, actively using the power of writing to transfer my dreams, my visions, and my divine desires from the unseen into the seen. My life is becoming a living testament to the undeniable power of written design, and I am seeing my desires come to pass!
