The Purpose & Power Of Writing: Writing & The Revelation Of Jesus
Study The Word
Revelation 1:10 – 11 & 19
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; …19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
The Purpose and Power of Writing is a theme that runs from Genesis to Revelation, and from the beginning of this month up to now we’ve been able to see from Moses, the prophets, the gospels, the epistles and now we have arrived at the Book of The Revelation of Jesus Christ revealing the Purpose & Power of Writing. We have already learned so much but most importantly how that writing is a divine principle instituted by God Himself, the ultimate designer and creator of all things. But now, in the upcoming days we will delve into what did Jesus Himself, our Lord and King, have to say about this principle? How did He use it? And we’ll also see how writing is still relevant and is still being used in heaven, before God’s Throne.
So, we find a profound revelation of this creative purpose and power of writing in the very first chapter of the book of Revelation.
The Apostle John, in a moment of divine visitation, was caught up “in the Spirit on the Lord’s day”. And what was the very first command he received from the voice of Jesus Christ, “the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end?” It was not to go and speak, or to preach. No, the first instruction was, “What thou seest, write in a book!”. And then, He says it again, emphasizing it in verse 19, “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter”. Do you see this? Jesus, the Son of God, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, begins His final revelation to mankind with a command to write!.
I do not know anything else that could confirm the purpose and the power of writing to any child of God more than this revelation. What other revelation confirms the spirituality of writing more than this? Writing is spiritual; and we see more about how the origin of writing has always been spiritual and from God; and how spirits were created and design to work and function with writing.
So if the enthroned Jesus Christ were to appear to you today, guess what He is going to ask of you regarding anything that He’d want to share or reveal to you? Obviously one of the things He’s going to ask you to do is to write the things.
Why? Because writing is the divine mechanism for transferring spiritual reality into the physical world. What John saw in the spirit realm, what was revealed to him by Jesus, was not meant to remain just a vision or just another spiritual experience. No, it had to be made tangible!
It had to be written down so that it could be sent to the seven churches and become a permanent record, an immovable reality that could now be read, studied, and lived by and put to work in the body of Christ that was in Asia at the time. And also, the prophecy of the end times that we are now living in today, thousands of years later; we would not have known if John had not written those things about the end time if he had not transferred all that he was shown into writing, as he was instructed to do by the Lord Jesus. This is how a spiritual vision becomes a physical, undeniable, and accessible truth! This principle is how God’s divine Will, purposes and plans are made manifest on the earth and in the lives of men. There is no other more sure way than this. This is the first and foundational truth we learn about Jesus and His emphasis on writing in the book of Revelation. And like I’ve been saying throughout this month that if God Almighty – the Lord Jesus Christ applied this principle with the critical things He wants or wanted to do in this world; you’d only be unwise to not use it to establish the critical plans and purposes of God that you want to actualize in your own life.
Pray The Word
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the divine principle of writing that You have established from the beginning. Thank You that Jesus Himself affirmed this principle by commanding John to write down the vision he received. I pray for the grace to steward every divine idea and vision You give me by writing it down and making it a tangible reality in the physical world, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Speak The Word
I receive every divine idea and instruction from the Spirit of God and I write it down! Just as Jesus commanded John to write, I am a writer of my own destiny. I transfer spiritual realities into the physical world through the power of writing. I am not just a hearer of the word; I am a doer, a designer, and a writer of my life and destiny! Hallelujah!
