3 Scriptures To Conquer Distractions & Find Focus In 2025

Ecclesiastes 7:21 NIV
1 Thessalonians 4:11 KJV
Philippians 3:12 - 14 MSG

Anything that pulls your attention away from what God has called you to do—your purpose, your salvation, or any goal you’ve set—is a distraction. Distractions come in many shapes and sizes, but God’s Word forewarns us and gives us wisdom in the scriptures on how to handle them. When you meditate on scripture and use it in prayer, God’s Word becomes your focus, giving you the ability to live it out and keep your mind fixed on Him. Take a look at the scriptures below:

Ecclesiastes 7:21 NIV
Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 KJV
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you.

Philippians 3:12 – 14 MSG
I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.

Come Out Of Agreement With The Lies Of The Enemy And Into Agreement With God’s Truth.

You are not your past, you are not the lie that is being whispered to you, you are not societies stigmas, you are what the word of God says about you!

Say this prayer with me:
Father, I thank you for making me a new creation in Christ Jesus. I come out of agreement with every lie of the enemy concerning my life and my destiny! I cut myself off from every lie, I pull down the strongholds of deception in my mind, and I erase it with the blood of Jesus Christ. Every seed of confusion and lie be uprooted from my heart and ejected from my soul in the name of the Lord Jesus. Thank you that the entrance of your Word brings light into my heart. Your light shines on the eyes of my understanding. Thank you for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you. From today, the seed of your Word takes root in my heart, and I water it with my prayers daily! Only your word concerning my life has authority.
Thank you, Lord, in Jesus name Amen.

Forgiveness Isn’t A Feeling, But Rather A Decision And Posture Of The Heart.

Forgiveness isn’t a feeling, but rather a decision and posture of the heart.

Even after declaring forgiveness in prayer, you may still experience tender or awkward emotions.

This is the space for the Holy Spirit to direct your next steps. Perhaps it will be a conversation, a kind gesture, further prayer to release the memory of the offense, a period of space, or even the ending of a season without bitterness.

Do not assume that you have not forgiven because your emotions remain tender after you have decided to forgive in prayer.

Forgiveness is a deeply spiritual act, and while it can take time for your emotions to catch up, the act itself is complete.

Continue walking in love and forgiveness. The more you do, the stronger you become, and you will grow in God’s will for you in this area.

The Dangers Of Holding Onto Malice And Resentment.

Holding onto malice & resentment only opens you up to spiritual attack, not the person you’re targeting .

You descend  into an endless pit of darkness, your words and actions soon start reflecting the state of your heart. [Luke 6:45]

Even if those who have hurt you have done something truly wicked, that’s where your personal relationship with Jesus Christ becomes essential. It’s through Him, that we find the capacity for forgiveness and grace, even in the most difficult situations.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds every wound [Psalm 147:3].

The Holy Spirit empowers you to do the seemingly impossible: to forgive, to let go of pain, to move forward, and even to pray for those who have hurt you. [John 14:26 AMPC]

For those struggling with holding onto malice and resentment, please pray this prayer with me:

Holy Spirit, thank you for giving me the capacity to forgive and let go of the pain in my heart. I ask you to heal my heart in accordance with your word.May my conscience be purged with the blood of The Lord Jesus Christ, from dead works to serve the living God.

I forgive today every situation and every person who has ever wronged, disappointed, persecuted, or hurt me in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ.

I also forgive every situation and everyone who will ever disappoint, persecute, hurt, or wrong me in the future, just as God has forgiven me in Christ Jesus.

Nothing shall be able to separate them from the love of God that flows in and through me from Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thank You Lord

Experience God’s Peace

As we grow in Christ, it’s important to recognise and embrace the life of peace that is part of our divine inheritance through the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Having grown up in environments lacking peace, and even as a woman navigating societal messages that can encourage unpeaceful and catty relationships between girls, or experiencing overly competitive workspaces, I can attest that nothing compares to accepting God’s peace for your life and personal environment.

What is God’s peace? Let’s analyse –

Isaiah 26:3: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in Thee.”

The original Hebrew word for “peace” here is shalom, which encompasses completeness, soundness, welfare, and peace with prosperity, tranquility, and contentment.

This is God’s desire for each of us. So, how do we apply it?

Firstly, we cannot have peace without the Prince of Peace, the Lord Jesus Christ. The initial step is to receive Jesus Christ into your life (a prayer for this is available on this platform).

Secondly, we need to katalambano – the Greek word for seizing, grasping, and taking hold of – God’s word concerning peace. This means actively claiming peace in your heart, home, city, and relationships. Find scriptures in God’s word that speak about peace and use them in prayer, making declarations such as, “I am a peacemaker and I live in peace with everyone,” or “God keeps me in perfect peace because my mind is stayed on Him.”

Thirdly, be intentional about your internal peaceful environment. Consciously set boundaries in your life and prevent the chaotic external world from disrupting your inner peace.

Let God’s word on peace guide you, even when it feels uncomfortable and calls you to be the bigger person. Reflect on the following three scriptures to gain wisdom and know how to act when peace is needed.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice; strive for full restoration; encourage one another; be of one mind; live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you

7 Scriptures Revealing The Depth Of Christ’s Anguish.

Happy Easter Week dear family. This is a particularly special time in the Christian calendar, as we meditate on, commemorate, and are once again transformed by the ultimate sacrifice and demonstration of the love of the God.

I hope you will enjoy this year’s Passion program, created for you, especially those seeking a deeper revelation of the most important story in all creation. To participate, please use these details: whatthewordsays.org/thepassion

Within this soul wellness section, I wanted to share some insights into the emotional state of the Lord Jesus Christ during His betrayal, trial, and crucifixion. These insights can be found in the messianic prophecies within the books of the prophets. This reveals Christ’s humanity and all that He overcame emotionally, in addition to the physical suffering, to fulfill His calling. While the Gospels offer eyewitness accounts of the Lord Jesus Christ’s physical experiences, the prophets illuminate His emotional state during this time, making this story of love and passion even more profound.

These seven scriptures highlight emotional states that anyone might experience. Today, I want to encourage you to bring these feelings to the Lord Jesus. If anyone can truly understand and identify with you, it is Him.

Hebrews 4:15 (KJV) states, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

He not only endured the physical ailments common in the world but also experienced emotional suffering.

The good news is this: He not only relates to and understands you, but He also heals you today through His precious sacrifice.

Prayer:

I pray for everyone who reads this article and reflects on these scriptures today: may you be healed in the depths of your soul from all emotional and mental hurts, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. May every broken heart be healed and every wound bound up. May there be a full restoration from all the years this pain has held you back. May you recover in your relationships, your health, and your purpose, and may you walk in total wellness and soundness of mind, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Now, rise from that grave of mental and emotional bondage, just as the Lord Jesus Christ did. Step out of feelings of rejection and separation, out from disrepute and reproach, and begin to use His word to renew your mind about who He has made you to be.

Your Gift Will Make Room for You

Proverbs 18:16 “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”

Each of us carries something uniquely powerful within us—a divine gift, given by God Himself. Yet, too many people go through life unaware of what’s inside them. Others may sense it, but let fear, doubt, or the distractions of life bury it deep beneath the surface. Society may try to define you. Circumstances may attempt to limit you. But God has already placed a gift inside you that has the power to open doors.

What is your gift?

Your gift isn’t simply a talent or skill. It’s a God-given ability designed to serve a purpose beyond yourself. It aligns with your calling. It stirs your spirit. It brings you joy and, when nurtured, blesses others.

You may be gifted to teach, lead, create, encourage, heal, organise, or sing. Whatever the gift, it carries with it divine purpose and potential. But potential means little without pursuit.

Proverbs 18:16 tells us that your gift will “make room” for you. This means it will carve out a space for your life to flourish. It will bring you before great men—before influence, opportunity, and divine appointments. And as you continue to walk faithfully in that gift, it will not only bring you before greatness—it will make you a great man or woman too.

But before your gift can make room for you, you must first discover and develop it.

Start by seeking God for clarity. He is the giver, and He delights in revealing what He has planted within you. For many, the gift is already evident—it’s that thing you do with ease, the ability that seems to come naturally, and consistently blesses and impacts others without effort.

Once identified, it’s time to sharpen your gift. Excellence doesn’t happen by chance. It requires commitment—study, discipline, and intentional growth. Refine your craft, expand your knowledge, and continue to cultivate your gift with diligence.

Then, step out in faith. Don’t hide what God has given you. Use your gift boldly, trusting that He will guide and multiply your efforts. God honours those who move in obedience and faith.

Refuse to be ordinary

God didn’t call you to a life of mediocrity. You were created to stand out— to reflect His glory. So refuse to bury your gift in fear. Don’t hide it behind excuses. Let the world see the light God has placed in you

Your gift makes room for you—let it lead.

Soul Wellness: An Introduction to Receiving Healing in Your Heart — Now Available

3 John 1:2 (KJV)

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

There is a mandate from heaven concerning the wellness of your soul — and today, I am so excited to announce the release of a book that was born out of that very mandate.

Soul Wellness: An Introduction to Receiving Healing in Your Heart is now available for purchase right here on WhatTheWordSays.

This is not just a book. This is a guided journey toward inner healing, forgiveness, and total restoration through the power of God’s Word. If you have been carrying pain, bitterness, guilt, shame, or disappointment — many of us have been carrying these things for far too long — then I wrote this book with you in mind.

A Book Born Out of a Real Season of Healing

Soul Wellness did not come from theory. It was forged in the furnace of a genuine healing journey. I write from a place of experience — I have walked the path of exposing my heart to the Father, confronting wounds that could not be seen with the eyes, and emerging on the other side restored and whole. This is the testimony that undergirds every page: healing is real, forgiveness is powerful, and restoration is available to every soul that dares to receive it.

Who Is This Christian Healing Book For?

Soul Wellness was written for every person who has been carrying emotional and spiritual weight for too long. Whether you are dealing with childhood trauma, unforgiveness, low self-worth, bitterness, or the lingering effects of painful experiences — this book meets you exactly where you are and walks with you toward freedom.

If you have ever said to yourself, “I know I should forgive but I don’t know how,” or “I feel stuck in survival mode and I cannot break free,” or “I know God loves me but I cannot seem to receive it in my heart” — then Soul Wellness is your next step.

This is also a powerful resource for pastors, counsellors, small group leaders, and anyone who ministers to the hearts of others. It provides a scripturally grounded framework for understanding inner healing and can serve as a guided tool for discipleship and pastoral care.

Guided Prayers and Daily Declarations for Healing

One of the most powerful features of Soul Wellness is that it does not leave you with information alone. Throughout the book, I include guided prayers that lead you through specific acts of healing — prayers for the release of trauma, prayers for forgiveness, prayers of exposure before the Father. These are not generic prayers. Each one is anchored in Scripture and designed to meet a specific area of pain — so that as you pray, the Word of God is doing the work of healing in your heart.

The final chapter is a treasury of declarations for daily use — declarations of identity, love, freedom, forgiveness, and restoration. They are crafted to reshape the inner narrative that has been running in the background of your life, and to replace it with the truth of what God says about you.

As I write in the book: “Every heart has a voice. It is the inner narrative that runs continuously in the background of your life.” Through Soul Wellness, that voice can be changed.
