Challenges Don’t Stand a Chance: Equipping Yourself with Prayer for Every Hurdle.

We’ve been having a great time of fellowship during our Monday and Thursday prayer sessions, and we’ve witnessed the amazing things that happen when believers come together in prayer.

We have also been sharing more about the purpose of prayer and looking into what God thinks about prayer. Whenever we want to engage successfully in an activity, its best practice to look at the instructions to be successful in that particular activity, and it’s no different with prayer.

When we read God’s word we not only receive the blueprint for prayer, we see examples of men and women of prayer.

Daniel 9:3 AMP

So I directed my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.

James 5:18 KJV

And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Ezra 10:1 AMP

Now while Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and laying himself face down before the house of God, a very large group from Israel, of men, women, and children, gathered to him, for the people wept bitterly.

Acts 16:25 – 26 NASB

Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; 26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were unfastened.

Luke 6:12 AMP

Now at this time Jesus went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.

It’s so inspirational to see how God’s powerful prophets, apostles and even the master himself depended on a lifestyle of prayer. These scriptures let us know that to live the Christian life successfully and dominate the circumstances of life we need to be actively involved in prayer.

We also spoke about those difficult circumstances of life, have we prayed about them more than we have complained about them? We sometimes find ourselves in a position where we know that prayer changes things, but do we believe that prayer can change ALL things or have we relegated prayer to only the things that our minds believe it can change?

Can prayer change that difficult relationship with a parent? Can prayer heal a broken heart filled with disappointment? Can prayer change an unfavourable diagnosis? The answer to even the most challenging situation is YES, prayer changes things, we just need to dare to believe the word of God and step into action.

Philippians 4:6-9 AMP

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

Be encouraged on your prayer journey, that it is the desire of the father to have you fellowship with him, and also experience great transformation in the place of prayer.

The Perfect Will Of God

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Understanding the perfect will of God comes through first recognising who and what scriptures represent and their eternal significance and importance. Too many of God’s children do not yet understand what the scriptures are. The scriptures are language containers of the Spirit Word Of God. They contain the essence of the Spirit of the Creator Himself.

The scriptures are the perfect will of God. This means that they provide us with the accurate revelation of God’s intentions, plans and desires for a person, a people, a place, a time or a thing.

I grew up as Christian during a time where there was an understanding that the scriptures were the general will of God, and the Holy Spirit was the source of the perfect will of God. My spirit always had a problem with this, until I found out #whatthewordsays.

It’s important to note that the scriptures are the perfect will of God, and the Holy Spirit guides us into the specific details of His will. While the scriptures don’t explicitly tell us every specific choice or decision we should make, they are the perfect will of God and the source for which the Holy Spirit can direct us into the specifics. By aligning ourselves with the Word of God and following what it says, we can be assured that we are walking in His perfect will.

Jesus Himself valued the scriptures and acknowledged their significance. He had a relationship with the scriptures.  He declared that He came to fulfil what was written about Him in the scriptures. Jesus’ relationship with the scriptures demonstrates the importance of the written Word. If the scriptures were this important in Jesus’s life, how much more you?

It was written in the scriptures that Jesus would enter Jerusalem riding on a donkey, and He fulfilled this prophecy by instructing His disciples to bring Him a donkey that had been prepared. Jesus’ obedience to what was written of Him exemplifies His alignment with the perfect will of God. Therefore, it is crucial to meditate and rely on the scriptures for every aspect of our lives, as they reveal God’s perfect will for us, and in so doing the Holy Spirit will give us clear specifics of His will.

The word of God lets us know in 2 Corinthians 3:18, that it is possible for a Christian to move from glory to glory and the same glory can be seen in our prayer life, we shouldn’t be satisfied with powerless prayer, we should instead learn the rules of engagement for prayer and excel in it.

The lifestyle of prayer:

In Luke 18:1 The Lord Jesus Christ says: ‘Men ought always to pray and not to faint’ this lets us know that the
lifestyle of a Christian is a lifestyle of prayer. The lifestyle of a Christian is a lifestyle of Fellowship, where we
engage with the Lord, engage with the Word and engage in the realm of the spirit.

What is prayer?:

Before we engage in prayer it’s important to understand what prayer is and why we pray! Prayer is more than asking God to meet our needs, or calling upon him when we get into a fix [even though this is permissable] Prayer is first and foremost fellowship with our creator, with his word and with his spirit. The purpose of prayer is communication with the father (Phillipians 4:6-7 )and to exercise our authority (Mark 11:20-24) Prayer also has so many benefits from; fellowship, to making requests and supplications, enforcing the will of God into our circumstances, prophesying into our future and so much more (Ephesians 6:18)

In Luke 11:1 we see that the disciples are engaging the master and they ask him ‘teach us how to pray’ this question lets us know that there is a way to pray, and various modes of prayer for different occasions. (Ephesians 6:18)
