The Purpose & Power of Writing: What Is Written Must Be Fulfilled
Study The Word
Revelation 19:9 ”
And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”
Again and again, Jesus and His angels are commanding John to write. The angel tells John to “write” the divine truth about those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And then he emphasizes, “These are the true sayings of God”. There is no higher authority than what is written by God, or what is commanded to be written by Him. What is written is the final word; it is the sealed decree.
graphō write – inscribe, engrave, write, describe
The word for “write” is graphō, and it means “to inscribe”, “to engrave”, or “to describe”. The word for “written” in Revelation 19:16 is gegrammenos, a perfect passive participle, indicating a completed action of writing with lasting results. It means “that which has been and will remain written”. This shows us that in the Kingdom of God, what is written has a permanence and an authority that cannot be challenged.
Think about this: on Jesus’s thigh and vesture is a name written: “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:16). It’s a permanent, unchangeable declaration of His authority. And the bible says that it has been tattooed on His thigh. And then, in the same application of the purpose & power of writing, Jesus commands John to write the things He is revealing. What is written is established as an eternal truth glory to God. Revelation 21:5 “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
Glory to God! What are you going to write about you life, your glorious future? You cannot afford to go through another day with a plainly documented, written purpose and plan for your life; the life and prophecies and visions that God has given you. Not after you have discovered the purpose and power of this eternal principle.
γεγραμμένος gegrammenos written – a completed action with lasting results, that which has been and will remain written.
The voice from the throne, which is the Lord Jesus Himself, makes a powerful declaration: “Behold, I make all things new”. And immediately after this, what does He say? He says, “Write: for these words are true and faithful”. Do you see the pattern here? What is spoken is powerful, but what is written is established, in earth and in heaven. It translates into a spiritual evidence and record, a divine decree that is formalized and cannot be changed.
This is the principle you need to adopt for your own life. If you have a prophetic word, if you have a vision, if you have a goal, put the word to work—write it down! The moment you write it down, it is no longer just an idea; it is a permanent, physical record that can only now be enacted and brought to pass. It becomes a decree that you can operate on, rehearse, and walk towards. And put together with the other accompanying principles, faith, and faith in His name; there can only be one outcome.
Don’t just think it, don’t just dream it, don’t just speak it. Take that extra step of faith and write it down. You’ll be following in the footsteps of Jesus, who is the ultimate authority on what is written. He is the Word, and He understands and knows what it is to be written and the power of it; and He also commands writing as a non negotiable. Why? Because what is written and what is decreed will surely come to pass.
Pray The Word
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the divine wisdom in the principle of writing. I receive Your instruction to write down Your Word to me, prophetic words, and the visions You have given me for my life. I thank You that as I do this, I am establishing an unchangeable decree in the physical realm that will surely come to pass in Jesus’s name, amen.
Speak The Word
I operate by the royal decree of what is written. I write my life and my destiny, and what I write is true and faithful. I establish my world and my future with my pen. Just as my King is the Word, and He commands writing, my written words are filled with the power and authority of God to bring them to pass! My written decrees are final.
